Ricochet is a soundtrack for seduction from beginning to end, from the laid-back, bedroom vibe of "Corner Pocket" to the bouncy funk of the title track; from the sinuous romance of "Rendezvous" to the midnight-gospel, bluesy workout on "So Good"; from the mellow grooves on "Sweet Memories" and "Seven Sacred Pools" to the party-funk of "Slam" and "Sake for Two", and the slinky, popping syncopation of "Sly". "You Make Me Feel Brand New", the only cover song, is an album highlight, a soaring, passionate version that finds Elliot wooing and cajoling with his sax, as he does better than anyone in the genre. It rivals Elliot's 1991 smash hit cover of "When a Man Loves a Woman" - which has become a staple at NAC radio and is still the pinnacle of his live concert performances.
